Crowning in Marriage

Next month I get married. In the Byzantine Church we are “crowned” in marriage and the service is quite a bit different from what you might expect. So, to help those attending, I’m building up a list of resources…

Marie and I will still be getting married at the end of July. Unfortunately, with the present COVID restrictions, the wedding itself is going to be very small, restricted to our wedding party and Marie’s immediate family. Due to travel restrictions, all of my family will be watching the livestream from England (while dressed in their formal wedding attire, of course)!
However, since we took the time to create a wedding website, I thought we’d share it here and ask for your prayers as I prepare to make Marie the happiest woman in the world!

About six months ago I recorded another interview with Bear Woznick. This time we spoke primarily about C.S. Lewis and my podcast, Pints With Jack. This weekend the video was finally published:

I have just posted a series of recording by my friend Joseph Enright of the fifteen prayers of St. Bridget. To allow for easy consumption of these prayers, I’ve created a podcast feed for them:

I had previously created for my fiancée an Audio Rosary podcast where I pray each of the mysteries of the rosary. Since today is another anniversary for us, I decided to add the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

I’m friends on Facebook with a gentleman who was one of the assistant ministers at a Protestant parish I used to attend. He has since become the vicar of a different parish in another part of the country. For the purposes of this post, I’m going to call him Father Tow.
A few weeks ago, I had a rather strange conversation with Father Tow. It was prompted by his posting the following image on Facebook:

Being a huge C.S. Lewis fan, I immediately recognized that this was a common misquotation. What Lewis actually wrote was:
“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the Sun has risen, not only because I see it but because by it, I see everything else.”
C.S. Lewis, “Is Theology Poetry?”, The Weight of Glory
I therefore commented on the picture, saying that it’s a great quotation, but that it’s not quite what Lewis wrote.

Hey everyone…
On 11th June 2010, I posted my first article on this blog. As hard as it is to imagine, that was ten years ago…
I began with a free WordPress blog over at thisrestlesspilgrim.wordpress.com, and then I upgraded to get my own domain. I started posting once or twice a week, but after a few months committed to publishing something every day. To date, I have posted a little over 3,600 posts…
Well, today things come to an end. As you may know, in a few months I’ll be getting married and entering a new phase of life. In light of this, while will still from time-to-time still write articles, I’ve decided to stop posting here every day. Since today is my birthday, it seemed like a good day to draw things to a close.
This new chapter in my life will require my full attention…and it’s going to be great 🙂
Cheers,
David.
