The Epistle of Joy – Episode #1 (Video)
So, it’s nearly the end of January which means that we’re just a couple of weeks away from Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent.
So, what are you going to be doing this Lent? Give up chocolate…again?! Don’t misunderstand me, fasting from treats is a good thing to do, but why not do something a little different this year?
With that in mind, why don’t you join me for Scripture study? Throughout Lent I will be posting videos on YouTube three times a week. Each video will be nice and short, enough time for you finish a nice cup of tea (or coffee, if that is your poison).

We’ll be working through St. Paul’s letter to the Philippians using the RSV-CE translation. More details to follow in the run-up to Ash Wednesday!

You’re Byzantine now…Clean Monday not Ash Wednesday! Outrage. 😉
Not canonically…
Thank you for all you are doing to share the joy of the Faith and love for Scripture!
Thank you Father, and welcome to Restless Pilgrim! 🙂
Each Benedictine monk is obliged to take on additional personal sacrifices during Lent, but only after first informing the superior and obtaining his permission. I’ll mention here just two things from among so many others that my superior has permitted in the past: doing without meat for one or all meals each day; rising daily from sleep fifteen minutes earlier than normal, and using that time for Scripture reading or another form of private prayer.
So I can be someone’s penance? I knew it! I’ve been telling my girlfriend that for months… 😀
Better late than never. 🙂
Playing catch-up? 🙂
