“That Man May Become God…” (MP3)

Last week, Joseph Heschmeyer, who works for Holy Family School of Faith and is the author of the blog Shameless Popery, came to San Diego to speak to the Immaculata Young Adult Bible Study Group. His talk was on the subject of theosis, the title of his talk being “That man may become God”.

Theosis can seem like a daunting subject, but it really is essential to understanding Christianity and Joe gave a really fantastic presentation.  Afterwards, many people told me that it was one of the best talks they’d heard in ages…

The Case Of The Empty Tomb

My good friend Joe Heschmeyer will soon be abandoning the United States in order to complete his final seminary studies at the North American College (NAC) in Rome.  Given the recent World Cup defeat of the England at the hands of the Italians, I take this as an extremely personal betrayal.

Fortunately for Joe, I’ve decided to forgive him and post the talk he gave recently on the subject of the Resurrection:

If you’d like to see the rest of the presentation and read his notes, they’re available here.

Catholic View of Salvation

Quite some time ago I remember reading an article at Called To Communion where I was presented with the positive case for Catholic salvation and I had my mind blown. I hadn’t realized quite how many non-Catholic concepts had crept into my brain.

During this past Lenten season I sent an email to Nick over at Nick’s Catholic Blog. Nick writes a lot on the subject of justification so I asked him to write a post putting forward the positive case for the Catholic view of salvation. The Protestant identity is often a negative one i.e. Not Catholic” and I didn’t want to see Catholic soteriology go in the same direction i.e. Not Sola Fide”. Here’s what he wrote:

Nick

If you’d like to understand more about the Protestant Reformed view of salvation and Penal Substitution, Joe recently did an article on this subject over at Shameless Popery.
