Worldwide Adoration

Adoration

Just in case you hadn’t heard, this Sunday on the Feast of Corpus Christi (June 2nd), Pope Francis will be presiding over an hour of Eucharistic Adoration in St. Peter’s and is inviting all Catholics around the world to do the same.

A few months ago we had “Mega Adoration” in San Diego when several hundred young adults attended Adoration together in one of San Diego’s larger churches. Clearly Pope Francis heard about this and decided to take it to the next level… 😉

St. Francis will be doing this at 5pm (Rome time), which works out at 4pm in England and in the USA it’ll be 11am on the East Coast and 8am on the West Coast.

So, join the Facebook Event, find yourself a chapel or church and go pray!

My Heart believes with eyes deceived

I was going to post this video after my Lenten desert time was over, but instead I’ve decided to do it now…

The above video is for the song “Intertwined” which was written by Ken Yasinski, sung by Janaya Trudel and produced by Clark Jaman.  The MP3 of this song is available for download here.

Upon falling in love with the chorus’ harmonies, I’ve pretty much had this song on a continuous loop for the last few days. Since Lent is a time for renewed dedication to prayer, and this song makes me want to go do a Holy Hour, I figured that I should post it now! Well, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it… 😉

Intercession

A while ago in our Young Adult group we were talking about praying before the Eucharist (“Adoration”) and I had asked the question “What do you actually do during Adoration?”

Some of the group spoke about reading Scripture.

Others spoke about praying the rosary.

One girl beautifully described it as “…just having quality Father/Daughter time”.

One word which was absent from the discussion was “Intercession”. It got me to thinking. How often do I regularly pray for those in my life? My family? My friends? My co-workers? What about the employees of the shops where I purchase my morning coffee or lunchtime sandwich? How often do I intercede for these people? Almost certainly not as much as I should…

My friend Art went to Lourdes and took with him prayer requests from his friends here in California…

So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is this: this week, especially during Adoration, I’d invite you to spend a little bit of time interceding for those people you know – friends, family, country…favourite bloggers.

Location, Location, Adoration

I’ve just had someone ask me about Eucharistic Adoration in San Diego. I know that some of the pilgrims who read this blog are practically professional Adorers, having visited virtually every chapel and church in the county, so…

Where and when can you go to Adoration in San Diego?

The Tantrum Song

I’ve just got back home from my Holy Hour. Despite being brought up a practising Catholic and being in Catholic education for the majority of my schooling, I somehow missed out on many quintessentially Catholic experiences, two of which are Adoration and Benediction.

I remember an incident a few years ago when my girlfriend and I were asked to do the music at a healing Mass. We presented our song suggestions to the planning team and they were well received, but it was also requested that, at Benediction after Mass, we play “Tantum Ergo”.

At this point in my journey I was vaguely aware of what Benediction was, but neither of us were familiar with the hymn “Tantum Ergo”. We tried to “push back” on this suggestion and recommended other songs instead, ones with which we were more familiar. However, the planning team was adamant, we had to do “Tantum Ergo”

After spending some time looking at the music we eventually concluded that it was “actually not too bad”. However, because of the unusually strong reaction to our suggestion to play something else, that hymn was forever dubbed in our minds as “The Tantrum Song”!
