What does “Catholic” mean?
My friend Ash put together this little video explaining the origin of the word “Catholic”:
Wise Words on Wednesday: Joy and sorrow
Your joy is your sorrow unmasked. And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears. And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter’s oven? And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?
When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight
– Kahlil Gibran
Inspirational Bible Quotation
I’ve noticed quite a few chain emails going about recently whereby people share their favourite inspirational Bible quotations. Part of me really wants to be brave enough to share this one 😉
Music Monday: All the way my saviour leads me…
All the way my Savior leads me
Who have I to ask beside
How could I doubt His tender mercy
Who through life has been my guide
All the way my Savior leads me
Cheers each winding path I tread
Gives me grace for every trial
Feeds me with the living Bread
You lead me and keep me from falling
You carry me close to Your heart
And surely Your goodness and mercy will follow me
All the way my Savior leads me
O, the fullness of His love
O, the sureness of His promise
In the triumph of His blood
And when my spirit clothed immortal
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages
Jesus led me all the way
Jesus led me all the way
All the way my Savior leads me
All the way my Savior leads me

What not to say
As we all know, Catholics love babies. However, sometimes this can lead us to be rather insensitive to others…
