Music Monday: Overcome

In the morning when I rise
And only shadows meet my eyes
Even then oh what is there that I should fear?

Though the wolves be at my door
Your love comes like a lion’s roar
Louder than the doubt that tries to steal my hope
By Your strength, restoring courage to my soul

Alleluia! Every battle won, every fear undone
Alleluia! You will overcome, You will always overcome

The nails, our shame, our sin, Your crown
The war was ours but still You fought
Oh we laid You in a grave meant for us
But no stone could keep You from the ones You love

[Bridge]
My night shall be as bright as day
The power of hell will fade away
Your strength will rise before the dawn
Your kingdom stand, You overcome
My night shall be as bright as day
The power of hell will fade away
Your strength will rise before the dawn
Your kingdom stand, You overcome
You overcome
You overcome

Music Monday: Nothing To Fear

Another Audrey Assad song this week, where she appears with The Porter’s Gate, singing “Nothing to Fear”…

When you pass through the waters I will be with you
And the depths of the river shall not overwhelm
When you walk through the fire you will not be burned
I am the Lord. I am the Lord

And there is nothing to fear, nothing to fear
There is nothing to fear, nothing to fear
For I am with you always.

In the depths of your sorrow I wept beside you
When you walked through the shadow I drew you near
Yesterday, today, tomorrow – always the same
I am the Lord, I am the Lord

What can separate you from My perfect Love?
What can separate you from My perfect Love?
What can separate you from My perfect Love?
Do not fear. Do not fear. Do not fear.

Music Monday: Drawn To You

All my devotion is like sinking sand
I’ve nothing to cling to but your sweet hand
No clear emotions keeping me safe at night;
Only your presence, like a candle light.

After everything I’ve had
After everything I’ve lost
Lord, I know this much is true
I’m still drawn to you.

I pour out my sorrows like a precious oil
I kiss your feet, Lord, with a holy joy
My tears an offering of my highest praise;
Your eyes say ‘welcome.’ I receive Your gaze.

After everything’s been said
After everything love costs
Lord, I know this much is true
I’m still drawn to you

Music Monday: Thy Will

Here’s an artist, Jonna Marie, whom I first came across on The Classical Theism podcast:

I’m so confused
I know I heard you loud and clear
So, I followed through
Somehow I ended up here
I don’t wanna think
I may never understand
That my broken heart is a part of your plan
When I try to pray
All I’ve got is hurt and these four words

Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be doneI know you’re good
But this don’t feel good right now
And I know you think
Of things I could never think about
It’s hard to count it all joy
Distracted by the noise
Just trying to make sense
Of all your promises
Sometimes I gotta stop
Remember that you’re God
And I am not
So

Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Like a child on my knees all that comes to me is
Thy will be done
Thy will be done
Thy will

I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord
Your plans are for me
Goodness you have in store
I know you hear me
I know you see me, Lord
Your plans are for me
Good news you have in store

Music Monday: Christ is mine forevermore

Mine are days that God has numbered
I was made to walk with Him
Yet I look for worldly treasure
And forsake the King of kings
But mine is hope in my Redeemer
Though I fall, his love is sure
For Christ has paid for every failing
I am His forevermore

Mine are tears in times of sorrow
Darkness not yet understood
Through the valley I must travel
Where I see no earthly good
But mine is peace that flows from heaven
And the strength in times of need
I know my pain will not be wasted
Christ completes his work in me

Mine are days here as a stranger
Pilgrim on a narrow way
One with Christ I will encounter
Harm and hatred for his name
But mine is armour for this battle
Strong enough to last the war
And he has said he will deliver
Safely to the golden shore

And mine are keys to Zion city
Where beside the King I walk
For there my heart has found its treasure
Christ is mine forevermore

Come rejoice now, O my soul
For his love is my reward
Fear is gone and hope is sure
Christ is mine forevermore!

Music Monday: Miserere mei, Deus

Lent begins this week, so I thought a penitential song was in order, so here is Misere Mei, Deus which is a song based on Psalm 51:

Miserere mei, Deus: secundum magnam misericordiam tuam.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy.

Et secundum multitudinem miserationum tuarum, dele iniquitatem meam.
According unto the multitude of Thy tender mercies
remove my transgressions.

Amplius lava me ab iniquitate mea: et a peccato meo munda me.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquities, and cleanse me from my sin.

Quoniam iniquitatem meam ego cognosco:
et peccatum meum contra me est semper.
I knowingly confess my transgressions:
and my sin is ever before me.

Tibi soli peccavi, et malum coram te feci:
ut justificeris in sermonibus tuis, et vincas cum judicaris.
Against Thee only have I sinned, and done evil before Thee:
that they may be justified in Thy sayings, and might they overcome when I am judged.

Sacrificium Deo spiritus contribulatus:
cor contritum, et humiliatum, Deus, non despicies.
Sacrifices of God are broken spirits:
dejected and contrite hearts, O God, Thou wilt not despise.

Benigne fac, Domine, in bona voluntate tua Sion:
ut aedificentur muri Ierusalem.
Deal favorably, O Lord, in Thy good pleasure unto Zion:
build Thou the walls of Jerusalem.

Tunc acceptabis sacrificium justitiae, oblationes, et holocausta:
tunc imponent super altare tuum vitulos.
Then shalt Thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
with small and large burnt offerings: then shall they lay calves upon your altar.
