Deaths due to illegal abortions

There was a lot of nonsense in the Kavanaugh hearing, but this one particularly annoyed me. However, one in particular stood out…

Senator Dianne Feinstein claimed that:

“In the 1950s and 60s, the two decades before Roe, deaths from illegal abortions in this country ran between 200,000 and 1.2 million”

What’s ironic is that she’s actually right…but not in the way she thinks. The Guttmacher Institute (pro-choice research group) report that she was referencing says that this was the number of unborn deaths due to abortion, not the number of maternal deaths because a legal abortion couldn’t be procured…
