Liturgy and the Internet Monk
I was recently speaking with a friend from a non-liturgical congregation about the beauty of liturgy. I was going to write a post explaining why we do liturgy, but then I realized that I wouldn’t be able to do any better than Michael Spender’s (aka “The Internet Monk”) piece Dr. StrangeLiturgy:
“I noted that our 1956 Baptist Hymnal, when examined closely, was full of texts that were not written recently in Nashville.” 🙂 Brilliant. R.I.P. Michael Spencer.
Last I heard, his widow Denise had moved toward Catholicism… Curious if you’ve followed that at all or know any more about it?
Yeah, a great man. I loved reading his posts both during my denominational wanderings, as well as after I returned to Catholicism.
I’m pretty sure Denise is now Catholic.
