Wise Words on Wednesday: Borrowed Books in Heaven

You might remember several years ago I wrote an article asking whether or not there would be Wounds in Heaven? Well, this past week I came across a quotation from C.S. Lewis which supports my suggestion:

“Yes,” my friend said. “I don’t see why there shouldn’t be books in heaven. But you will find that your library in heaven contains only some of the books you had on earth.”

“Which?” I asked.

“The ones you gave away or lent.”

“I hope the lent ones won’t still have all the borrowers’ dirty thumb marks,” said I.

“Oh yes they will,” said he, “But just as the wounds of the martyrs will have turned into beauties, so you will find that the thumb marks have turned into beautiful illuminated capitals or exquisite marginal woodcuts.”

PWJ: S2E25 – PC – “Prince Caspian”

Each Season we discuss briefly one of the Chronicles of Narnia. In Season 1 we read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. This Season, we’re reading Prince Caspian, as it was the second book to be published. In comparison to the previous book, Prince Caspian is less familiar to most people so we had to spend more time outlining the plot, so Matt and I ended up having to break up our discussion over two episodes.

Music Monday: Your Spirit

Oh, this is fun one… This is “Your Spirit” by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, featuring Kierra Sheard:

Not by might
Not by power
By your spirit God
Send your spirit God

You are the fire
We are the temple
Your are the voice
We are your song
You are our God
We are your people
You are the light
We stand in awe
We stand in awe of you
We stand in awe of you

You called us out
Out of the darkness
Into your love
Into your light
Grace upon grace
Beauty for ashes
You come to us
We come alive
We stand in awe of you
We stand in awe of you

Breathe
Come and breathe on us

We stand in awe of you

Romantic Movies

The other day on Facebook, a friend of mine who is a Christian speaker asked for recommendations for romantic movies, but only ones which didn’t have lots of inappropriate material. Now, I understand that the term “inappropriate material” means different things to different people, but I was quite amazed at some of the recommendations he received. Anyway, I decided to start compiling my own list of movies and I would love your help!

  1. Pride & Prejudice
  2. Sense & Sensibility
  3. Persuasion
  4. Emma
  5. Hitch
  6. Ever After
  7. Kate & Leopold
  8. You’ve got mail
  9. Sleepless in Seattle
  10. The Princess Bride
  11. Martha, mett Frank, Daniel and Laurence
  12. 50 First Dates
  13. Music & Lyrics
  14. IQ
  15. The Family Man
  16. Return to me

What did I miss? Do you have any other recommendations?
