Show Notes
• The title of this show is a play on the second version of Psalm 148:
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 148:1-2 (NASB)
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him, all His hosts!
• Matt’s copy of C.S. Lewis goes to Heaven has just arrived. I’m still trying to get hold of the author for an interview. He also recently bought The Lord of the Rings.
• This week Matt was drinking Buchanan’s Duluxe and I was drinking a Japanese Whiskey, Suntori Toki. While Matt was in San Diego, we went to The Aero Club to drink scotch. The service is normally great, but the night we went it wasn’t that great… 🙁
• The quote-of-the-week was from The Weight of Glory:
“…the New Testament knows nothing of solitary religion. We are forbidden to neglect the assembling of ourselves together. Christianity is already institutional in the earliest of its documents. The Church is the Bride of Christ. We are members of one another.”
C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory
Lewis has a chapter on church attendance in Chapter 2 of The Screwtape Letters. I said that the motif of that book is how the Devil can take something good and twist it one way or the other.
• Matt needs to start a C.S. Lewis group in New York. If you’re a local, please reach out!
• Matt got to hang out with one of the listeners in New York, Jeff:
They went to go and see my favourite musical, Wicked.
