Wise Words on Wednesday: The Cave you fear to enter
I heard this one on the Jennifer Fulwiler Show the other day…
“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek”
– Joseph Campbell *
"We are travellers…not yet in our native land" – St. Augustine

Today we come to the deadliest of the Seven Deadly Sins, pride, as well as its counterpart, my favourite virtue, humility.

Episode 21: “The Great Sin” (Download)
I’ve just finished being interviewed on The Jennifer Fulwiler Show. Jen was kind enough to advertise my speaking engagement in San Antonio this Tuesday. I will be speaking on “Entrepreneurial Faith” to the Young Catholic Professional (YCP) group.
The event will be at Holy Rosary Church on Camino Santa Maria Street, 6-9pm. So, if you’re in the area and in your 20’s or 30’s, please feel free to come along – I’d love to meet you!
I have a standard Easter morning playlist to cover the drive from home to Church, the culmination of which is a song by Matt Maher where he echos the words of the Early Church… “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling death by death…”
Let no one caught in sin remain
Inside the lie of inward shame
We fix our eyes upon the cross
And run to Him who showed great love
And bled for us
Freely You’ve bled for us
Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with Him again
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave
Beneath the weight of all our sin
You bowed to none but Heaven’s will
No scheme of Hell, no scoffer’s crown
No burden great can hold You down
In strength You reign
Forever let Your church proclaim
O death, where is your sting?
O hell, where is your victory?
O church, come stand in the light
The glory of God has defeated the night
Sing it, o death, where is your sting?
O hell, where is your victory?
O church, come stand in the light
Our God is not dead, He’s alive, He’s alive…
