Wise Words on Wednesday: Fall in Love

arrupe-main1

Fall in Love
Nothing is more practical than
finding God, than
falling in Love
in a quite absolute, final way.
What you are in love with,
what seizes your imagination, will affect everything.
It will decide
what will get you out of bed in the morning,
what you do with your evenings,
how you spend your weekends,
what you read, whom you know,
what breaks your heart,
and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in Love, stay in love,
and it will decide everything.

Music Monday: Nunc Dimittis

Continuing in the theme of more ancient music, this time from the West, is the Gregorian Chant for “Nunc Dimitts”, the hymn of praise offered by Simeon upon seeing the Christ child in the Temple:

Nunc dimittis servum tuum, Domine, secundum verbum tuum in pace:
Now, Lord, you let your servant go in peace: your word has been fulfilled.

Quia viderunt oculi mei salutare tuum
My own eyes have seen the salvation

Quod parasti ante faciem omnium populorum:
which you have prepared in the sight of every people;

Lumen ad revelationem gentium, et gloriam plebis tuae Israel.
A light to reveal you to the nations and the glory of your people Israel.
