GREETINGS FROM NEW ZEALAND….SORRY I DONT HAVE MUCH TIME FOR REV,DESMOND TUTU……HE IS A STRONG SUPPORTER OF ABORTION ON DEMAND, SUPPORTER OF HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE…..ETC, ETC!!! I ASK MYSELF,IS HE IS A CHRISTIAN??
Hey Trevor, welcome to Restless Pilgrim 🙂
If you look back through the Wise Words on Wednesday, you’ll see that I pull quotations from Christians of various stripes, as well as non-Christians. I do this because of St. Justin Martyr and St. Thomas Aquinas…
* Apparently, a young Dominican came to St. Thomas and he wanted to become wise. Thomas told him to read as much as he could and to care less about who wrote it, but rather whether or not it was true.
* St. Justin Martyr was an Early Church Father and said that “whatever things were rightly said among all men are the property of us Christians”.
In this case, what Desmond Tutu says is true. Even someone with whom I disagree can occasionally say something which I think is profound and wise. I think it’s good to be able to recognize this, since it shows that we’re not against the person but against falsehood and that, above all, what most concerned about is truth.
