Things that make me happy
The other day I was thinking about things which make me happy. It’s actually quite a difficult exercise – if you don’t believe me, give it a go. What are the things which make you really, truly happy? Where are the places you can always find joy?
After sitting down and writing the list I’ve concluded that I’m actually quite easy to please. Although in many ways I’m extremely demanding of myself and others, it doesn’t actually take a whole lot to make me happy:
10. A new blog comment from someone I don’t know
9. Private worship session in my room with my guitar
8. A evening of dancing (salsa, swing etc)
7. Waking up in the night, getting something to drink and realizing it’s only midnight and I still ages before I have to get up 🙂
6. Books and book stores, especially if they’re second-hand
5. Watching the sunrise from a high place (a hill or a rooftop)
4. Peace and quiet
3. Driving on the freeway with the windows down, listening to some great music
2. Watching my niece dance around in front of the TV
1. A nice cup of tea. Seriously, I can’t describe how much I love tea.
The Christian Nerd came up with his own list…
Faithful, outspoken bishops make me happy. Cardinal Burke and Cardinal Arinze make me wonderfully happy.
Collecting autumn leaves makes me happy.
Learning foreign languages makes me happy.
Eating chicken sandwiches with Muenster on ciabatta rolls makes me happy.
Hedgehogs make me very, very happy.
Oh yeah, my kids, who think I am waaay too into hedgehogs, also make me happy….

Thanks Jimmie, it did! 🙂
The face on the mug reminds me of Lionel Richie.
this is a great idea David! May be a good Advent thing… writing down something every day that makes you happy… hmmmm 🙂
Ooo, good idea! I’ll have to think about this…with the exception of #6, which is a no-brainer and shouldn’t surprise you or anyone else I know. 🙂
