This is to make sure that the woman isn&#8217;t pregnant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/quran.com\/65\/4\">Qur&#8217;an 65:4<\/a> outlines three different categories of women regarding the Iddah:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pregnant women whose waiting period ends with the delivery of the child<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those who don&#8217;t have periods any more have a waiting period of 3 months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those who have never menstruated have to wait 3 months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/quran.com\/65:4\/tafsirs\/en-tafisr-ibn-kathir\">Ibn Kathir&#8217;s commentary<\/a> (14th Century) confirms who this last group is:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>&#8220;<strong>The same for the young, who have not reached the years of menstruation<\/strong>.
