In Qur’an 10:16<\/a> you have the simplest and clearest textual variation, between the Hafs and Qunbul:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If Allah had willed, I would not have recited it to you, He would not<\/span> have made it known to you…<\/strong> (Hafs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If Allah had willed, I would not have recited it to you, He would<\/span> have made it known to you…<\/strong> (Qunbul)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tafsir al-Jalalayn points out this textual variation<\/a>, saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Say \u2018If God had willed I would not have recited it to you nor would He have made it known to you nor<\/strong> would He have made you aware of it the l\u0101 of wa-l\u0101 adr\u0101kum is for negation and is a supplement to what preceded; a variant reading<\/strong> has the l\u0101m sc. la-adr\u0101kum \u2018He would<\/strong> have made it known to you\u2019 as the response to the conditional law \u2018if\u2019 in other words He would have made it known to you by the tongue of someone other than myself. For I have already dwelt among you a whole lifetime of forty years before this Qur\u2019\u0101n not relating to you anything of the sort so will you not understand?\u2019 that this Qur\u2019\u0101n is not from myself?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
