It is (rather confusingly) called &#8220;Limbo&#8221; and was written by Sister Mary Ada:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">The ancient greyness shifted<br>Suddenly and thinned<br>Like mist upon the moors<br>Before a wind.<br>An old, old prophet lifted<br>A shining face and said :<br><em>\u201cHe will be coming soon.<br>The Son of God is dead;<br>He died this afternoon.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">A murmurous excitement stirred<br>All souls.<br>They wondered if they dreamed &#8212;<br>Save one old man who seemed<br>Not even to have heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">And Moses standing,<br>Hushed them all to ask<br>If any had a welcome song prepared.<br>If not, would David take the task?<br>And if they cared<br>Could not the three young children<br>sing<br><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Benedicite\" target=\"_blank\">The Benedicite<\/a>, the canticle of praise<br>They made when God kept them from<br>perishing<br>In the fiery blaze?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">A breath of spring surprised them,<br>Stilling Moses\u2019 words.<br>No one could speak, remembering<br>The first fresh flowers,<br>The little singing birds.<br>Still others thought of fields new ploughed<br>Or apple trees<br>All blossom &#8211; boughed.<br>Or some, the way a dried bed fills<br>With water<br>Laughing down green hills.<br>The fisherfolk dreamed of the foam<br>On bright blue seas.<br>The one old man who had not stirred<br>Remembered home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">And there He was<br>Splendid as the morning sun and fair<br>As only God is fair.<br>And they, confused with joy,<br>Knelt to adore<br>Seeing that he wore<br>Five crimson stars<br>He never had before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">No canticle at all was sung.<br>None toned a psalm, or raised a<br>greeting song.<br>A silent man alone<br>Of all that throng<br>Found tongue &#8212;-<br>Not any other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Close to His heart<br>When the embrace was done,<br>Old Joseph said,<br><em>\u201cHow is Your Mother,<br>How is Your Mother, Son?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"860\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Y7lsPftETTU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I love the thought that St. Joseph&#8217;s first question was to ask about his wife \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a poem about Holy Saturday about the Harrowing of Hades, when Christ descended to the dead and took the righteous souls to Heaven.
