He has taught at Azusa Pacific University, Wheaton College, Regent University, Duke Divinity School, the College of William and Mary, and is presently ensconced in the C. S. Lewis Chair of Communication and Christian Thought at Virginia Wesleyan University. <br><br>He is the author of a number of books on cinema, as well as: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/God-Mocks-History-Religious-Prophets\/dp\/1479886734\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">God Mocks: A History of Religious Satire from the Hebrew Prophets to Stephen Colbert<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Surprised-Laughter-Revised-Updated-Comic\/dp\/1595554785\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Surprised by Laughter: The Comic World of C.S. Lewis<\/a>. <\/p><p>He has been married to Karen for over 35 years and they have two children, Chris, a comedy writer in Los Angeles, and Caroline, a 7th grade English teacher in Virginia Beach. His wife likes walks on the beach, a fine wine, and our churches. He follows her obediently. He aspires to be one of the last patriarchs of this generation, but doesn&#8217;t have the Alpha Male zest. Unfortunately, he read too much Edgar Allen Poe as a child and now his writing is heavy with adjectives.
