On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of C.S Lewis\u2019 death, together with Harper Collins, you published an annotated version of <em>The Screwtape Letters<\/em>.<ul><li>As we are reading through <em>The Screwtape Letters <\/em>this season on <em>Pints With Jack<\/em>, this is the version I\u2019m reading. Not only is it beautiful, I\u2019ve found the notes really helpful in preparing for our episodes.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>We\u2019ve had Doug Gresham on our podcast a couple of times now. He\u2019s the man in charge of Lewis\u2019 literary estate and in the introduction to the book you explain that he wasn\u2019t initially a fan of the idea of an annotated version of Screwtape. What was he concerned about?<\/li><li>People on this podcast will know I\u2019m a big fan of the word \u201camateur\u201d, an amateur being is someone who does something for love. But were you nervous about trying to produce an annotated Screwtape, since you are an \u201camateur\u201d rather than a \u201cscholar\u201d?<\/li><li>I was particularly pleased to see that you included both the 1942 and 1961 Prefaces in your version. You don\u2019t always find both of them together. Why is that?<\/li><li>Personally, I\u2019d like to see many more books like this produced. I think Lewis is very readable, but every now and then it\u2019s helpful to have a \u201cleg up\u201d, someone to help you understand what he\u2019s written. So, with that in mind, what kind of assistance do you give in your book to readers of <em>The Screwtape Letters<\/em>?<\/li><li>What process did you go through in deciding what annotations to add?<\/li><li>What has been your personal relationship with <em>The Screwtape Letters<\/em> as a reader?
