MacDonald was a minister and writer who greatly influenced C.S. Lewis. Lewis said that reading MacDonald&#8217;s <em>Phantastes<\/em> &#8220;baptized&#8221; his imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I therefore read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0060653191?pf_rd_p=c2945051-950f-485c-b4df-15aac5223b10&amp;pf_rd_r=NSQ8K5G1P686YS1F7W5E\">George MacDonald: An Anthology<\/a>, which was assembled by C.S. Lewis. It contains 365 extracts from MacDonald&#8217;s work, such as the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>#262 A Lonely Religion <\/em><\/strong><em><br>There is one kind of religion in which the more devoted a man is, the fewer proselytes he makes: the worship of himself.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was fascinating to see the themes and threads of thought I have seen in Lewis&#8217; work in that of his master.
