\u2022\u00a0I referred to Matt as “Pinky”. This\u00a0was a reference to the Warner Bros Animation, “Pinky and the Brain”<\/a>, about\u00a0two lab mice. “Brain” is intent of taking over the world and “Pinky” is his idiot sidekick.<\/p>\n

I have called\u00a0Matt\u00a0“Pinky” on several occasions\u00a0before off-air, so when I called him this on the show, he was ready with his reasons why this is, in fact, a complement:<\/p>\n

1. Pinky is of “superior height” to Brain
\n2. Pinky is the moral compass of the duo
\n3. In the episode where Brain actually achieved world domination,\u00a0he gives it away… because he didn’t want to achieve it without Pinky<\/p>\n

\u2022 We mentioned\u00a0Pope Fabian<\/a>, who was a layman prior to becoming Pope. A dove landed on him at the Papal election and\u00a0everyone saw it as a sign from God.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Quote-of-the-week:<\/p>\n

“The Son of God became man so that men could become sons of God”<\/em> (Mere Christianity)<\/span><\/p>\n

I described this as “Athanasian”, referring to the Deacon Athanasius who attended the Council of Nicaea and\u00a0who said that “God became man so that man could become god”.<\/p>\n

\u2022 The Beer-of-the-week was the Samuel Adams “Winter Lager”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2022 We then asked each other some questions about Christmas…<\/p>\n

Q. What are some of your family Christmas traditions growing up?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25cb Matt explained that his family would go “Santa Hunting”…<\/p>\n

Q. On what date do you think it’s acceptable to start playing Christmas music?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25cb Matt\u00a0asserts that you can start doing it from December 1st. This is also the date when he starts drinking peppermint hot chocolate.<\/p>\n

\u25cb Personally, I believe that you can start listening to\u00a0Advent<\/span> music on December 1st. You may start\u00a0playing\u00a0Christmas<\/span> music on December 24\/25th.<\/p>\n

Q. Where would you fit on the Grinch Scale, between 1 and 10?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25cb Matt says he’s a “1” i.e. not a Grinch at all.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0quoted a line from the movie Step Brothers<\/a>\u00a0(“That leaves so much more room for activities!”<\/em><\/span>), which I hope nobody has seen \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Q. Angel or fairy or star. What is on top of your Christmas tree?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25cb Matt puts\u00a0nothing<\/span> on top of his tree!<\/p>\n

Q.\u00a0Real tree or fake tree?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25cb Matt is a fake tree person, but aspires to be a real tree person.<\/p>\n

\u25cb During my childhood we had a real tree, switched to a fake tree during my later teenage years and here in the United States we have a real tree.<\/p>\n

Q.\u00a0What is your favourite Christmas song?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25cb Matt says his is The Christmas Shoes<\/a>, which is a song from the movie<\/a> with the same name.<\/p>\n

\u25cb My favourite Christmas songs are Once In Royal David’s City<\/a>. I also really like the Casting Crowns rendition of\u00a0I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day<\/a>, which has a moving\u00a0backstory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Q.\u00a0What\u00a0has been your best Christmas present ever?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25cb I had two.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Castle Grayskull<\/a>\u00a0from the TV show He-Man<\/a>. \u25cb Matt’s favourite Christmas presents were a\u00a0LEGO Statue of Liberty and a LEGO X-Wing and Tie Fighter. In an attempt to look less like a colossal nerd, he said he also received some roller blades…<\/p>\n

Q.\u00a0How has your enjoyment and understanding of Christmas changed over the years?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25cb As a kid, Matt only cared about the presents. As an adult, he still enjoys presents,\u00a0but his whole experience has been changed by coming to faith.<\/p>\n
