The person I would like to enthuse about today is Dr. Peter Kreeft,\u00a0professor of philosophy at Boston College and, quite frankly, one of the most intellectually engaging speakers I&#8217;ve ever heard.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Kreeft first came to my attention when one of my friends mentioned in an email that she really liked his books. Up until that point, I had never heard of him.\u00a0Following the recommendation, I went to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterkreeft.com\">his website<\/a> and listened to some of his\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterkreeft.com\/audio.htm\">talks<\/a>\u00a0which are available online.<\/p>\n<p>After listening to the first talk, I concluded what I almost always conclude after listening to one of his lectures: <span style=\"color: #000000\"><em>&#8220;I am so dumb! My mind is so dull!&#8221;<\/em><\/span>. Like <a title=\"My Favourite People: Fulton Sheen\" href=\"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/2011\/03\/07\/fulton-sheen\/\">Grandpa Sheen<\/a>, Kreeft has an amazing ability to forge links between ideas which I would never have considered to be even remotely connected.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As I started to find more out about Dr. Kreeft I found out that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.integratedcatholiclife.org\/2011\/06\/hauled-aboard-the-ark-the-spiritual-journey-of-peter-kreeft\/\">he was a convert<\/a> to the Catholic Faith from a Reformed background. He has been engaged in Christian and Catholic apologetics and has authored a number of superb books, including one item currently on my wish-list, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Handbook-Catholic-Apologetics-Reasoned-Questions\/dp\/1586172794\">Handbook for Catholic Apologetics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"860\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VO2NGGmWBQo?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>About a year and a half ago I got to hear Professor Kreeft speak in person at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cicdc.org\/\">Catholic Information Center<\/a> in Washington DC. He did not disappoint! Articulate, yet wonderfully down-to-earth, and always with a wry sense of humour&#8230;\u00a0I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve ever heard so many fart jokes within the space of an hour&#8230; \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I wanted to honour another one of my favourite people.
