A longer answer could be given, but I thought I&#8217;d just post here the quotation I just shared with him from St. Justin Martyr:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span style=\"color: #000080\">We hold our assembly on Sunday because it is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">the first day [of the week]<\/span>, on which God brought forth <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">the world from darkness<\/span> and matter. On the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">same day<\/span>, Jesus Christ our Saviour <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">rose from the dead<\/span>. For He was crucified on the day before [Saturday]; and on the day of the Sun [Sunday[ he <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">appeared to His apostles and disciples and taught them<\/span> these things, which we have submitted to you for your consideration.\u00a0<em><br \/>\n&#8211; St. Justin Martyr, First Apology (c.
