{"id":16577,"date":"2013-01-10T07:00:18","date_gmt":"2013-01-10T14:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/?p=16577"},"modified":"2015-03-19T16:09:50","modified_gmt":"2015-03-19T23:09:50","slug":"five-gold-rings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/2013\/01\/10\/five-gold-rings\/","title":{"rendered":"Five (hundred) Gold Rings!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/barny.jpg\" alt=\"barny\" width=\"218\" height=\"230\" \/><\/strong>During this Advent and Christmas season, <em>everyone<\/em> became engaged or got married.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, maybe that&#8217;s a bit of an exaggeration&#8230;but only a\u00a0<em>bit<\/em>!\u00a0Seriously, there were\u00a0<em>a lot<\/em> of engagements.\u00a0It seemed like every day Facebook was announcing yet another one. During one particular twenty-four hour period, <em>four<\/em> new engagements were announced!<\/p>\n<p>All this is wonderful news, of course. It&#8217;s great to see so many of my male friends, both in America and England, manning up, getting down on one knee and popping the question. For the last few weeks my News Stream has been filled with lots of happy pictures \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>As the number of engagements and weddings increased I thought about doing something here on the blog to mark the occasion.\u00a0I&#8217;ve written a little bit about marriage before, but mainly focusing on the <a href=\"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/2011\/05\/17\/husbands-love-your-wives\/\" target=\"_blank\">theological dimension<\/a>\u00a0and the <a href=\"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/2010\/12\/07\/early-church-fathers-love-romance\/\" target=\"_blank\">exhortations<\/a> of the Early Church Fathers. This time I wanted to share something of value concerning the day-to-day life in a Christian marriage, some advice on how\u00a0to lead one another to Heaven\u00a0and to keep God at the centre of the marriage as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ecclesiastes+4:12&amp;version=NIVUK\">&#8220;third strand&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, given that I&#8217;m not married myself, I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;m really in a position to give this advice! So I&#8217;ve decided to outsource this post, turning it over to my friends who are already married!
