{"id":13990,"date":"2012-09-11T07:00:43","date_gmt":"2012-09-11T14:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/?p=13990"},"modified":"2015-03-19T15:48:14","modified_gmt":"2015-03-19T22:48:14","slug":"v2-eastern-churches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/2012\/09\/11\/v2-eastern-churches\/","title":{"rendered":"Vatican 2 on the The Eastern Churches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/vaticanii.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"205\" height=\"247\" \/>As part of my <a title=\"How do Catholics view the Bible?\" href=\"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/2012\/08\/30\/how-do-catholics-view-the-bible\/\">continued service<\/a> to the students of Franciscan University of Steubenville ;-), I have just recorded the audio for the document <span style=\"color: #000000\"><em>&#8220;Orientalium Ecclesiarum&#8221;<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>This document was produced by the Second Vatican Council and concerns the <a href=\"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/2012\/01\/09\/catholic-family-tree\/\">Churches<\/a> in the Catholic Church which follow an <a href=\"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/2010\/09\/06\/know-your-rites\/\">Eastern Rite<\/a>.\u00a0Given that I attend\u00a0an Eastern Rite parish\u00a0during the summers, it&#8217;s rather odd that I&#8217;ve never actually sat down and read this document before.<\/p>\n<p>Still, better late than never I suppose&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>A long time ago, when I first began this blog, I start producing a\u00a0series entitled\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/tag\/vatican-2\/\">&#8220;V2 we love you!&#8221;<\/a>. At the time, the <a href=\"http:\/\/jp2group.wordpress.com\">JP2 Group<\/a>\u00a0was reading the document <em><span style=\"color: #000000\">&#8220;Dei Verbum&#8221;<\/span><\/em>. I anticipated that we would work through more of the Council&#8217;s documents. My hope was that the series of blog entries would provide a helpful accompaniment to our study.<\/p>\n<p>We didn&#8217;t end up studying any more of the documents and so I never wrote the blog posts.\u00a0However, a little while ago\u00a0I signed up for a course on the Second Vatican Council at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.diocese-sdiego.org\/Fall_2011.aspx#online\">Diocesan\u00a0Institute<\/a>\u00a0which starts this October.
