I was talking with someone recently about forgiveness and how, when we hold a grudge, we do damage to ourselves. I had a Scripture verse at the back of my head but I couldn’t remember where it was in the Bible. Today I found it:<\/p>\n
“Wrath and anger are hateful things,\u00a0yet the sinner hugs them tight<\/span>. The vengeful will suffer the LORD\u2019s vengeance, for he remembers their sins in detail. Forgive<\/span> your neighbor\u2019s injustice<\/span>; then when you pray, your own sins will be forgiven.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Could anyone nourish anger<\/span> against another and expect healing<\/span> from the LORD? Could anyone refuse mercy to another like himself<\/span>, can he seek pardon for his own sins? If one who is but flesh cherishes wrath, who will forgive his sins?<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Remember your last days, set enmity aside<\/span>; remember death and decay, and cease from sin! Think of the commandments, hate not your neighbor; remember the Most High\u2019s covenant, and overlook faults<\/span>\u201d<\/em> –\u00a0Sirach 27:30-28:7<\/span><\/p>\n We cling to anger and hold it tight.
