{"id":2011,"date":"2011-05-03T16:26:25","date_gmt":"2011-05-03T16:26:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/?page_id=2011"},"modified":"2015-01-08T09:02:07","modified_gmt":"2015-01-08T16:02:07","slug":"philippians","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/commentary\/philippians\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Paul&#8217;s Epistle to the Philippians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Epistle to the Philippians is my favourite work among the writing of St. Paul.\u00a0The pages of this letter are filled to bursting with many beautiful, powerful and memorable lines.\u00a0It&#8217;s no surprise, therefore, that\u00a0the\u00a0<a title=\"My \u201cLife Verse\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/restlesspilgrim.net\/blog\/2012\/06\/08\/my-life-verse\/\">&#8220;life verse&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0of many Christians is found\u00a0within its pages:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span style=\"color: #993300\"><em>&#8230;he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion&#8230;<\/em><em>I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord&#8230;<\/em><em>Do not be anxious about anything,\u00a0but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God<\/em>\u00a0&#8211; Philippians 1:6;\u00a03:8;\u00a04:6<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">If\u00a0this letter\u00a0could be summed up in a single word, I think it would\u00a0be that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Gal%205:22&amp;version=NIV\">fruit of the Holy Spirit<\/a>, <em>&#8220;<\/em>joy&#8221;. That word appears, in some form or another, about\u00a0sixteen times in the epistle&#8217;s four short chapters. Paul talks about having joy in the different\u00a0situations of life: in <em>prayer<\/em>, in <em>preaching<\/em>, in <em>hospitality<\/em>, in <em>unity<\/em> and even in <em>suffering<\/em>.
