Epistle Of Joy – Episode #3 (Audio)

PodcastThe audio-only version of the latest episode in the Philippians video series is now available to download below.

In today’s episode I look at the opening words of Paul’s letter. I discuss the somewhat odd letter-writing conventions of the First Century and spend a little bit of time digging into what Paul means when he talks about “the saints” before closing with a brief discussion of the ideas behind Paul’s greet of “grace and peace” to the Philippians.

Mark Hart

Just in case you’ve never encountered him, you should know about Mark Hart, “The Bible Geek”:

Mark Hart is the Vice President for LifeTeen, as well as being an author and speaker. A lot of his material is geared towards teenagers, but I’d say that his content is also perfect for adults.

Personally, I’m subscribed to his podcast “Sunday, Sunday, Sunday” which discusses the Sunday Mass Readings and it’s one of the resources I use it to help me to write my lectionary notes.

Getting through the Catechism in a year

Do you want to know the Catholic Faith better? Have you ever wanted to work through the Catechism from cover to cover? Well, now’s your chance to go on that journey with some company!

Fr. Hugh from Dominus Mihi Adjutor just wrote about Read The Cat, a blog and podcast whose authors are going to be working their way through the Catechism in 365 days.  Every Friday there’s a ten minute podcast in which fifty-five paragraphs of the Catechism are summarized and explained. If you want, you can read those fifty-five paragraphs yourself during the week…

They’ve only done one episode so far so it’s easy to catch up. I’m doing it. Who’s with me?
